Most international students, including Sri Lankan students in the UK, who wish to follow their higher studies in the UK enroll in a three-year undergraduate degree. International students can choose from a range of courses and subjects at some of the world’s top universities in the UK.

A bachelor's degree involves a mix of seminars, workshops, modules and examinations. While certain bachelors degree programmes in engineering and science can take upto four years to complete, several programmes in the UK offers fast-track option where students can complete their programme in two years. Fast track programmes, however, do not lead to postgraduate studies but students have the opportunity to complete another additional year in the bachelor level to meet postgraduate requirements.

The UK also offers joint or dual-honours programmes where students have the chance to major in two study fields at once. Although these programmes involve an extensive workload, they often have higher job perspectives in the UK and global job market.
